Man ordered to pay ex-wife more money 30 years after divorce

A wealthy retired builder was ordered to pay more money to the woman he divorced nearly 30 years ago after a judge heard she had “fallen on hard times”, the Court of Appeal was told yesterday.

Dennis North, 70, began his appeal against the award, which was made by a district judge last year. He has been ordered to pay his unfaithful wife £202,000 – nearly 30 years after divorcing her.

The now retired builder married his first wife Jean, 61, in 1964 and they divorced in 1978, a year after he found out that she was having an affair with the man she later went to live with.

In 1981 he made a financial settlement with her, buying her a house and investments. Over the years, he increased her assets so that she would be able to live comfortably for the rest of her life, the appeal judges were told.

But in 1999, she sold up and moved to Australia, and her capital dwindled because of bad investments and because of what the court heard was a ‘lifestyle beyond her means’.

Since divorcing his first wife, he had prospered and is now estimated to be worth between £5 million and £11 million, the court was told.

A district judge agreed in April that her money troubles had nothing to do with her former husband and that he had no further responsibility towards her, but awarded her £202,000.

His barrister, Philip Moor QC, told the court Mr North raised the three children of the marriage and later had two children by his second wife.

Mr Moor said Mrs North had made no attempt to find a job since 1977, when she was 32.

The woman cheated on her husband, walked out on her children, refused to lift a finger to help herself and moved to Australia to live the high life, funded by the money her husband provided to set her up for life and the district judge awarded her more money 30 years after the divorce?!!

How to Push or Receive a domain on Godaddy

Godaddy.com are great for domains but their domain pushing process can seem overly complicated unless you’ve been through it several times.

(Lately, there appears to have been a glitch whereby if someone pushes a domain to your account, the domain doesn’t appear in the appropriate section (Pending domain changes) and it looks as if it didn’t come through.

Fear not! It’s there! You just have to go through the process.)

Pushing a domain from one Godaddy account to another.

Here’s how to push a domain from your Godaddy account to someone else’s Godaddy account.

Firstly, log into your Godaddy account.

Then choose,
Domains > Manage domains to take you to the domain manager.

Tick the checkbox next to the domain you wish to push to another account. Follow this by clicking ‘Account Change’ (arrowed)

Click on Account Change

Now you need to fill in the Registrant details to that of the person to whom you want to push the domain name.
Fill in the change of registrant info

Be certain to use the proper email address as this is where the “Change of Registrant” email will be sent.

Click on “Ok”.

That’s it! The process to push the domain to another account has begun. From your end, nothing further need be done.

How to receive a domain pushed to your Godaddy account

Assuming you have received the “Change of Registrant Pending” email from Godaddy you should follow these steps.

Log into your Godaddy account.

Click on “Pending Account Changes”
Click on Pending Account Changes

This will take you to the “Pending Account Changes” page.
Click on “Accept Account Change” (top right, arrowed)
Accept Account Change

Then enter the Transaction ID and Security code. Click “Continue”
Enter transaction ID and Security Code

That’s all there is to it!

Simply click through the checkout process (don’t worry, it’s free - i.e. Total: $0.00) and you are done.

You should then receive a confirmation email from Godaddy.com to confirm that the domain name has been transferred to your account.

This process will work even if no domain is showing in the “Pending Account Changes” box so long as you have received the “Change of Registrant Pending” email containing the Transaction ID and Security Code.
