Suffolk Serial Killer’s First Victim?

December 18th, 2006

A woman was found dead in woods by a couple walking their dog. She was naked and partially covered by snow.

18-year-old Carol Lannen had been stripped and her body dumped in Templeton Woods, at an area which was used by courting couples seeking privacy, on the outskirts of Dundee.

Carol Lannen worked as a prostitutue in the city’s red light area.

Some of her belongings were found on the banks of the River Don, near Kintore in Aberdeenshire, eleven days later.

She had been strangled.

Sound familiar?

The M.O. or modus operandi (modes of operation) is remarkably similar to the current Suffolk Strangler murders. What is striking is the lengths taken by the murderer to dispose of any forensic evidence.

Forensically aware … in 1979.
